After receiving a PhD in Anatomy from Duke University, I taught anatomy at several medical schools and then attended The University of Illinois College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Loyola University Medical Center. I practiced as a geriatric dentist in Detroit for over 30 years, and was a member of the team that founded the Henry Ford Center for Senior Independence, where I practiced for many years. I also had a mobile practice that provided care for homebound, assisted living and nursing home patients all over the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. I presented continuing education courses on treatment of geriatric and dementia patients in numerous locations around Michigan. After I retired my practice I became the dentist of record at the St. Vincent de Paul Dental Clinic in Detroit, and later at the Malta Dental and Medical Clinic in Detroit, and was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, providing lectures on geriatrics and dementia for dental and hygiene students, as well as for the University of Michigan GPR program. I am currently affiliate faculty at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and continue to lecture remotely in Michigan.
