Care, Compassion & Connection: Delivering Culturally Appropriate Care in the Dental Office
Thursday, May 9, 2024
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: 337
CE Credits: 1
Our world is rapidly changing, and so are the patients we see in our practices. Like these patients, we bring our own unique hopes, fears, backgrounds, beliefs, and expectations to the dental office—whether they are visible to us or not. By better understanding the unique needs and perspectives of both our patients and ourselves, we can continue to improve how we provide high quality, culturally appropriate care.
In this interactive, discussion-based course, participants will learn about and discuss how to use their strengths, curiosity, and vision to continuously improve patient communication, safety, and culturally responsive care that meets patients where they are. The result? Improved health and greater patient and provider satisfaction.
*It is recommended that participants take Part One, “Introduction to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Dental Office – What it Is and Why it Matters”, prior to taking Part Two.
Starting in 2024, Washington state requires all licensed health care providers to complete continuing education in Health Equity. This course qualifies for 1hr towards that requirement.
Learning Objectives:
Define culturally appropriate care, why it matters, and what it means to providers and treatment of patients in their practices/clinics
Identify and share ideas about how to deliver culturally appropriate care in the dental office
Have access to resources, support, training, and learning opportunities to further their learning
