Sinus floor elevation procedures are commonly performed to create sufficient bone height for the placement of dental implants following tooth loss in the posterior maxilla. Two main augmentation procedures have been described, lateral window sinus floor elevation (LWSFE) and transcrestal sinus augmentation. Maxillary sinus augmentation is predictable, but not immune to complications. The aim of this study is to identify anatomical landmarks on CBCT in order to reduce surgical complications.
Learning Objectives:
How to evaluate Maxillary sinus anatomy on CBCT.
How to decided when to perform lateral vs crestal sinus floor augmentation.
How to prevent complications during sinus augmentation procedures.
